Whenever I boot up my computer a message pops up "CDDirect will cause Windows to become unstable. Windows has prevented these drivers from loading".

When I click on the pop-up, the Issue Description is "A driver is installed that causes stability problems with your system. This driver will be disabled. Please contact the driver manufacturer for an update that is compatible with this version of Windows". The link provided is to Roxio and there is no patch or update available. The driver(s) must have something to do with Easy Media Creator or Easy CD Creator. Currently there is no roxio software on the computer (if there ever was).

Also, I've checked updates for my two CD / DVD drivers hoping that would help. It didn't.

I ran Autoruns to see if anything from Roxio / CDDirect was loading in the drivers section but didn't see anything. There were several Files Not Found but not Roxio or CDDirect. Any ideas on how to get rid of this?

Thank you.

To resolve this issue, contact Roxio or view the following Roxio Web site to download and install the updated driver for Easy CD Creator 5.0 for Windows XP: http://www.roxio.com. To work around this issue, uninstall Roxio Easy CD Creator or Direct CD.

Easy CD Creator 5.02b and earlier has not been tested or approved by Roxio for use on Windows XP.

As of October 22, 2001, the latest version for Easy CD Creator is version 5.02b; this version is known to have problems running on Windows XP. Easy CD driver updates from Roxio are available from the following Roxio Web site:

See if you have any of the files or registry keys mentioned in this MSKB-

Go from there.
