Hi,
I am looking for help. I have Windows XP on my emachines T2898, and the other day encountered a problem. I was looking at a file when my computer suddenly went black. Almost like a power surge the shut down the computer. I restarted it and everything seemed fine.
The next day I found a problem. My keyboard stopped working. Nothing at all, but the mouse works. I went into Control Panel and clicked on Keyboard and looked at the hardware section. Nothing was there. I tried the troubleshoot and nothing happened.
I have researched this somewhat, I realized that the language settings may be a problem. I went into that section and its set to United States, so no problems there. I also looked around and found the driver for my keyboard, however when i tried to install it nothing changed. Went through the entire install process fine and restarted but no keyboard.
A whole lot of nothing going on, i did try. Now I ask for your help!!
Thanks,
Becky

If this is a USB keyboard look in your BIOS to see if it needs to be enabled.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Also, try another keyboard (to rule out a problem with this one).

If it's USB, try different plugs (if it's in the back, try the front - if it's in the front, try the back)
If it's PS2 - try another keyboard to see if it works (will require rebooting)
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

The keyboard is not a USB cable, it is the one that came with the computer, it has the special color coded slot in the back.
What is odd that when I plug it into the computer, the lights do come on so i know its getting power.
Not sure what BIOS is? I will go out today and get another keyboard and try it.
