When i turn on my laptop it boots up to the windows xp screen then it restarts itself, goes back to the windows screen and restarts over and over. Going to safe mode, last known good configuration both have the same result. I wouldn't mind reinstalling windows but mine never came with a disc, it has a seperate drive for it. It's a Compaq Presario v5000. I think i'm supposed to press F11 on boot for reinstalling windows, but after i hit F11 it starts loading then shows a BSOD. Help please?

Could you give us the information from the BSOD? Here's a link for more info on BSOD information: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/top...tml#entry409491

I would go for the Last Known Good Configuration fix first.

Here's a link to a brief description of the error: http://aumha.org/a/stop.php#0x21a

In short, the security of your system has been compromised - and Windows won't boot because of it.

The fix, because you can't boot into Windows, would be to restore the system (which you can't do because of the BSOD). I'd suggest either getting a set of restore CD's from Compaq (about $20 US) - or slaving the hard drive to another system and doing a virus scan there.
