mpegvideo.dll is for DScaler. try uninstalling it and get a more recent version

As for the wmv. file try some different codecs from our freeware app. thread

This is an old post but I just replaced my video card due to heating issues but now I tried playing a dvd using Windows media Player and am getting an error messege about mpegvideo.dll. I read your answer but the problem id I never had DScaler does this mean I need to download another program to make WMP to work right? Hopefully some one will see this and help me out

Actually its when I put a DVD in to play and it pops up with "Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" and on the error signature it says "ModName: mpegvideo.dll"

I don't see anything I consider enlightening...have you tried uninstalling WMP 11...and then reinstalling?

"The mpegvideo.dll file is the DScaler MPEG2 Decoder. I found the latest version, installed it, and the problem seems to have gone away."

From another person with similar problem.
