I have an inspiron 1300 laptop, i have mainly been using the power adapter and the computer shutdown, after a message appears that the fan has overheated. However the laptop worked afterwards for a short time, then i had problems with the power adapter as it kept cutting off until one day it finally stopped working. I initially thought there was a problem with the adapter so i acquired a new one but the laptop still doesn't function, it worked for 5 minutes with the new adpater before cutting off. Can somebody please help me with my problem.

sounds like the heat disspater for the processor in the laptop is clogged with dust and the processor may have died, hopefully not the board. I'd take it to a shop that knows how to open up the laptop and clean out any dust, and hope that you jst need a processor replaced. maybe a fan as well.
