i do not know if i am in the correct forum or not because it coud be considered an xp, internal or external problem.
ihave the xp fax enabled and i have a lexmark printer fax also. when trying to use the xp fax i get to the screen that says preview fax and nothing happens. when i try to use the lexmark all it wants to do is print. when i go to control, settings, printer and fax. it shows three items; fax, lexmark, and lexmark(copy 1). the lexmark and lexmark(copy1) properties ports says i am using 'usb 001 virtual printer port for U... the fax properties does not show any ports i guess because it is internal(DUH). i can not use any fax at all now. How can i correct this or is there a way i can just start all over again and re-setup the whole fax configuration. also how can i password protect this because 3 people have access to this computer so there is no telling what has happened.

Well, I think you need to use one program for faxing, either XP's or Lexmark's. Part of using that program is learning how it functions and minimizing time/confusion when you want to fax.

The Lexmark software can be a pain when it gets fouled up. In any case, I suggest removing the entire Lexmark package (drivers and software), rebooting, and then reinstalling the Lexmark devices.

I've not tried to fax anything in years so...good luck !
