Okay, so I have the symptoms of IEDefender on my computer. I get pop ups in Internet explorer, although they are not as bad as some describe. I can still use it. Google searches are also corrupted. It does not show up on my programs list, and every file people have suggested searching for to delete do not show up anywhere on my computer. I have run Norton Antivirus, AdAware, SpyBot, and FixIEDef, none of which help my problem. I have tried the manual method of removal as well, but none of the files show up. It seems as if it's not even on my computer, yet Internet explorer is not working properly. Firefox works without problems though. I have read all posts I can find on how to remove this and tried everything I have come across, yet nothing helps my situation. Please help me get rid of this horrible program. Here is my Hijackthis log:

"# Click on the Start Menu button.

# Click on the Control Panel option.

# Double-click on the Add or Remove Programs icon.

# Find the entry for IE Defender and double-click on it to uninstall the program. Follow the prompts to uninstall the program, but do not allow it to reboot the computer if it asks."

When I did this step, IE Defender did not appear in the Programs list.

"Delete the following files and folders (Do not be concerned if a folder does not exist):

C:\Windows\System32\bDivX.dll
C:\Windows\System32\bDivX.dll.bak
C:\WINDOWS\system32\IR9V0_QCX.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\IR9V0_QCX.dll.bak
C:\Windows\System32\Video32.dll
C:\Windows\System32\Video32.dll.bak
C:\WINDOWS\system32\IntelVideo.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\IntelVideo.dll.bak
C:\WINDOWS\system32\IntelVideoDivX.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\IntelVideoDivX.dll.bak
C:\WINDOWS\system32\XunLeiBHO_Now.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\XunLeiBHO_Now.dll.bak
C:\Windows\System32\dx50codec.dll
C:\Windows\System32\dx50codec.dll.bak
C:\Windows\System32\a3gpcodec.dll
C:\Windows\System32\a3gpcodec.dll.bak
C:\WINDOWS\system32\aDivX.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\aDivX.dll.bak
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mp3avi.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mp3avi.dll.bak
C:\Windows\System32\VideoMP3.dll
C:\Windows\System32\VideoMP3.dll.bak"

When I tried to do this step, none of these folders/files existed.

"# When the C:\Program Files\ folder opens, look through the list of folders and when you find the folder named IE Defender left-click on it once so it becomes highlighted.

# Then hit the Delete button on your keyboard and when it asks if you are you want to delete the folder, click on the Yes button with your mouse.

# When the folder is deleted, reboot your computer back to normal mode."

When I tried doing this step, the folder named IE Defender did not exist.

Like I said, it seems like it's not even on my computer. But when I use internet explorer, I have all of the symptoms.

Hi,

When I tried to do this step, none of these folders/files existed.

As far as I can see from your HijackThislog, the next files should exist:

C:\Windows\System32\VideoMP3.dll
C:\Windows\System32\VideoMP3.dll.bak

Can you post a new HijackThislog please?

I got it worked out. I think I was using the fixIED program incorrectly. I tried it a different way and now everything is back to normal. Thanks a lot for spending the time to work with me, I greatly appreciate you and the fact that there are people like you out there to help.

Hi,

Did you also delete these files?:

C:\Windows\System32\VideoMP3.dll
C:\Windows\System32\VideoMP3.dll.bak

If not, please search for them and delete them.

I was able to locate and delete the C:\Windows\System32\VideoMP3.dll but not the C:\Windows\System32\VideoMP3.dll.bak one.
