Is there a reason why you are doing an external burner?

You are better off dumping an internal drive and buying one of these:

NEC 3520

You may want to look at reviews on cnet.com. I look at what the editors say, and then base my purchasing on the user opinions. Just take some with a grain of salt as some want the product to do what it wasn't designed for. You can also compare products. For the most part, this is a good resource. Good luck.

I agree...cnet is an excellent resource for reviews. Newegg.com is good in that respect as well.
