I am currently having an increasing problem with the above listed IDE storage driver supplied by Intel (IdeChnDr.sys) which is part of the Intel Accelerator App for Dell Dimension 8250. This driver set is no longer supported by Intel, but I can find no good answer about what to do regarding the system problem it creates. With increasing frequency, I am getting a Windows system error, with reporting screen to Microsoft, which hangs the system completely. Upon reporting, I find that Microsoft says that Intel is the problem. Checking with Intel only indicates the driver set for this chip set family is no longer supported. Does anyone have any experience or any suggestions (alternative driver for Intel 850 Family chipset)? other than uninstalling this driver. And if I do uninstall is there a replacement driver or fix?
