I have just re-installed Windows XP and all software. However everytime I switch the computer on the desktop icons load where I left them at close but during the boot process and while the programs are loading all the desktop icons move to the left of the screen.
I have googled this problem and tried all the obvious settings ie auto arrange off, align to grid off. I have also tried to add the NoSaveSetting to the registry under HKEY CURRENT uSER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\explorer, but this didn't work either.
I think that one of the programs which is loading is responsible but I am not sure how to identify the culprit and stop it.
