What are you scanning the system with and are you doing this in safe mode?

How much RAM do you have, how large is you hdd and how much free space to you have on it?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Well...it's awful (if not impossible) to troubleshoot something when the owner is (justifiably) anxious about doing certain things on the system and the person trying to advise doesn't have control of the system.

Which is probably why OEMs came up with the concept of Recovery Disks.

My opinion (it's only that) is that you need can either

a. Use Recovery Disks, if you have such and diminish the time/pain you will spend spinning your wheels.

b. Use your XP CD, if you have such, to do a repair install and hope that takes care of your problems. Of course, if your problems are related to lack of safe computing practices and/or hardware situations...this will not prove to be a long-term solution.

c. Find some adult who is more familiar/comfortable with computers and ask for their assistance. Someone bought that system for you and chances are they can get a lot farther faster with this or any other forum...than you can.

In the event viewer you say ,I have TONS of warnings and errors!
You should click the sysyem tab , and see what it says , write down the exact error messages .
send me the error messages .
By the way your not dumb . We have all gone through the " what shall i do " , panic , panic !!!!!
If you double click the error message it takes you to another box that has an explanantion ,
and . Then there is a link in blue ,right underneath the explanation part , click that
and you will get a lot more info .
Have a good day .

Visiting these forums is how I learned about computers - so it's a good place for any of us to start.

As the others have suggested, try looking at the different error messages (double click on each one) to see if there's a pattern visible. If you find a pattern, copy the stuff from the pattern and post it here. If you don't find a pattern, then post the most recent error messages here and we'll start with them.

Try both of the suggestions above. They won't hurt your computer - and if you can't provide the disk, then just cancel out of it (your computer may have the "disk" stored somewhere on the hard drive).

If you can get online, try some of these free, online scans to see if something has slipped by your antivirus and antispyware protection:
http://safety.live.com
http://housecall.trendmicro.com

Include the make and model of your computer in your next post and we'll see what else we can do.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

- John  (my website: http://www.carrona.org/ )**If you need a more detailed explanation, please ask for it. I have the Knack. **  If I haven't replied in 48 hours, please send me a message. My eye problems have recently increased and I'm having difficult reading posts. (23 Nov 2017)FYI - I am completely blind in the right eye and ~30% blind in the left eye.<p>If the eye problems get worse suddenly, I may not be able to respond. If that's the case and help is needed, please PM a staff member for assistance.
