Hihi...I've joined this forum quite a while ago coz I thought this is sucha nice place where kind people help others in distress...today it's my turn..not that its anything good...hehe..

My bro installed some p2p network stuff and now my laptop's in a mess coz of Spyaway and all its other buddies....Fake windows security alerts..popups, viruses from various unknown folders..

So I'd appreciate if any spyware doctors can help me look into this (^^,) and give me some advise....Thanks a load in advance Doc~~~ :thumbsup:

Hi Feli

I will be helping you with your problems.

Before we go any further you are running Hijackthis from your desktop. This is not advised as any backups that Hijackthis makes will not be safe.

So delete any existing copies of Hijackthis you have and go here and download a fresh copy to your desktop. Double click HJTinstall.exe and then click on install. This will automatically give you a shortcut on your desktop for future use.

With HJT running choose "Do a system scan and save a logfile" and post the resultant log in a reply to this thread.

Regards

Demon Cleaner

Hello again Feli

1. Please download SmitfraudFix

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm

2. Please download FixWareout from one of these mirrors:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
Then you will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log.

Regards DC

Hi Feli

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a Notepad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

1. Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart anyway into normal Windows. A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

2. * Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE:
  • Close all instances of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer
  • Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
  • Click the "Delete Cookies" button
  • Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
  • When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content", click OK
* Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox (In case you also have Firefox installed):
  • Go to Tools > Options.
  • Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
  • Click the Clear button located to the right of each option (History, Cookies, Cache).
  • Click OK to close the Options window
    Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing by clicking Clear All.
    A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the information.
* Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin
  • Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
  • Let it scan your system for files to remove.
  • Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
  • Press OK to remove them.
3. Please run the F-Secure Online Scanner
Note: This Scanner is for Internet Explorer Only!
Follow the Instruction here for installation.
Accept the License Agreement.
Once the ActiveX installs,Click Full System Scan
Once the download completes, the scan will begin automatically.
The scan will take some time to finish, so please be patient.
When the scan completes, click the Automatic cleaning (recommended) button.
Click the Show Report button and Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

So to recap in your next post please supply
  • Smitfraud fix report Rapport.txt
  • F-secure scan report
  • A fresh Hijackthis log
Regards DC

Hi Feli

Sorry for the delay, Demon Cleaner has gone on vacation.

Just give me some time to check your logs and make sure you are clean.

Please post a new HijackThis log to make sure nothing has changed.

Stelios :thumbsup:

Hi Feli

Thank you for your kind words!

Now just a minor fix!

Please run HijackThis again, click scan, and put a checkmark next to each of the lines listed below, if still present:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {2d7cb618-cc1c-4126-a7e3-f5b12d3bcf71} - (no file)

Then close all other windows--you should only see Hijack This on your Desktop--and click the Fix Checked button, and EXIT Hijack This.
=====

Now let's make sure your comp is clean!

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Posted Image

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Posted Image
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on Posted Image
  • Now click on Posted Image
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended (if available otherwise Standard)

    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click Posted Image
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer

Hi Feli

Please print out or copy this instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be available to you at certain points of the removal process (while in Safe Mode).

Please download ATF Cleaner. by Atribune. Don’t run it yet.
=====

Download OTMoveIt.exe from here and place it on your desktop:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/oldtimer/OTMoveIt.exe
Don’t run it yet.
=====

Please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer.
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear.
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
  • If you have trouble getting into Safe mode go here <--link to tutorial
=====
  • Still in safe mode run: ATF
Double-click Posted Image to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at
the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please
click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the
top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please
click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located
at the bottom of each menu.]
=====

* Open OTMoveIt.exe.
In the left pane where it says: "Paste List of Files/Folders to be Moved", copy and paste next part:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\AVTMD.0XE

Then click the MoveIt button below.
In case you get a "Bad Image" error, just click OK at the promt. It will move the file anyway.
When done, it will create a log (********_******.log -- * stands for date and time) in next folder: C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles.
Copy and paste this log in your next reply with a new HijackThis log.
=====

Reboot to normal mode.

Please delete:
SmitfraudFix
FixWareout

Have one more scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Please post back:

The OTMoveIt log
The Kaspersky log
And a new HijackThis log.
