Help I am not knowledgable about computers and need help! I'll explain all I can and hope someone can help.

I tried posting previously but a warning came up telling me I needed to download AVsystemcare and it popped to some site and I couldn't get rid of it or get back to my almost finished post to say what my computer is doing.

I tried to hook a printer to my room mates computer. He knows less than I so I am trying to fix it. The printer won't work and it says the computer can't detect it. I tried to go to control panel and discovered it was not there. It isn't there in any of our user accounts now. It was on one and I tried to open it there and it said access was restricted. I can't find an administrator account.

A yellow triangle is in the bottom of the taskbar sometimes. Norton when I check there, enable auto protect is checked, but sometimes a box comes up that says it isnt. We use Netzero. A box pops up saying the web accelerator can't work because there is another running. A Critical Error box pops up. continuously. It says "Warning!!! The system is restored after critical error. Error code is OxO1FFEFAC. System safety is critically lowered now. Install System Error Fixer and Trusted Anti-Virus Now." I click it off with the x in the corner. Sometimes in the middle of doing other stuff the My Documents screen comes up and shows all the documents. When I try to do liveupdate it says another liveupdate is already running.

I have some institutional version of Norton and PestPatrol on the computer and I've run it a few times, but it isn't my computer and I don't think that the other users have run it as often but it still is enabled. Other error things pop up at the bottom near the icons on the corner of the taskbar too saying that I need to download spyware removal tools. I run Pest Patrol and Norton but they don't find anything. I've tried reading other people's fixes but it is like reading Greek to me. What can I do????? I appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thanks so much in advance!!!

Hi vlp and welcome to BleepingComputer

If you go to My Computer and double click on it do you see the control panel there?

When you connected the printer was the computer turned on?

Do you have the drivers for the printer?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

This is an indication that you have malware on your system. I would take care of this before doing anything else. Go to our Security portion of the forums (scroll down a bit on the main forum page)
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/
Post about "AVsystemcare" They will help you out and determine whether you need to post a HJT log

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
Do not send me PMs with problems that should be posted in the forums. Keep it in the forums, so everyone benefits

thanks. DIdn't find anything about AVsystemcare. Norton found a backdoor trojan that it can't quarantine and everything keeps popping up and kicking me off. Arhghhhg! I'll keep trying. Thanks
