I have removed the above file permanantley its taken me about a week what was basically happening was that there was an exe. mijef. exe stopping me from deleting se.dll. I used anti spy info and located the mijef exe quarantined it and then deleted se.dll and it hasnt come back.Could someone please check my Log as I must admit I am no expert and got rid of this more by luck than judgement so If someone could check to see how clean it is I would be gratefull.Gerald

Can you please submit the follow file to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/submit.php:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\MAFWTray.exe

Fix this as well as I will tell you about better programs after:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Spyware Begone] C:\Program Files\freescan.exe -FastScan

You did a good job getting rid of the malware though!

Hi as I said I got rid of it more by intuition than any sort of skill, I have tried to fix
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Spyware Begone] C:\Program Files\freescan.exe -FastScan
with HJT but it just comes back, so I feel its a bit suspect should I try In safe mode?

C:\WINDOWS\System32\MAFWTray.exe this file relates to M Audio Firewire Interface I mainly use the computer for music production, thanks for your help, and any advice on getting rid of spyware begone would also be helpful.

I find this stuff intriguing, would love to learn more how does one train and do what you do! Gerald

I need to get samples of some of your files. Please create a folder called c:\submit. Now copy the following files into that directory:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\kernels32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ieexec.exe
se.dll

To copy the files simply navigate to the directory they are in and right click on them and then click on copy. Then paste these files into the c:\submit directory. Once the files are all copied I need you to zip the folder. If you are using XP or ME right-click on the folder and click on the Send To option and then send it to a compressed folder. You will now see a file called submit.zip. If you are using another version of Windows, please download a program called Winzip and zip it using that. Then go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/submit-malware.php, fill in the required fields, and browse to the file. Then click on the Send File button.

Print out these instructions and then close all windows including Internet Explorer.

Then I want you to fix some of those entries. Please do the following:

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then click the Fix button:

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)

C:\WINDOWS\System32\kernels32.exe
c:\windows\system32\ieexec.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\inee.dll

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode and post a new log.
