I have a emachine etower 500is in the book it says that I can only gp up to 256 MB on my memory. I am wondering if I can upgrade to 512 MB, if I can find it. Like I said I have 2=128 MB, 168 pin, 100MHz SDRAM, its a 500MHz computer.

According to the manufactures website your manual is correct the motherboard only supports 128MB sims so the board will only support up to 256mb  . It would be difficult at best to find any New ram for that machine. Be thank full the computer has lasted this long E-machines don't have the best track record for longevity. If you need help finding a suitable replacement let us know.
