I am running Windows 2000. Whenever I double-click on Internet Explorer, I get the following error message:

"Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The problem seems related to Kernel32.dll. Attached is an image which shows the error report.

I have no viruses and no malware as I used Symantec System Client (for viruses) and ad-aware & spybot (for spyware).

Also, below is my Hijack this log. Can anyone please help me?

I also scanned my system using panda and it found no viruses. Must be some undetected malware. Please have a look at my HijackThis Log.

THANX in advance.

Does it close IE? Did you post this from the IE that is having the problems?

We can dig a bit more to be safe:
  • Download Combofix to your desktop.

  • Doubleclick combofix.exe

  • Follow the prompts.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished, and after reboot if it asks for one, combofix will open again to gather the necessary information for the log. This may take a while so please be patient. When done, Combofix will close and a log should open called combofix.txt.

Post the contents of this log in your next reply along with a new hijackthislog.

Please do not post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask you to.
