Is there a way for me to remove topics from the "My Topics" view?

The 'My Topics" view shows all of the topics in which you have participated. The only way to remove them is to remove your account, which would then remove the posts from the various threads, etc.

However, in your "My Controls" area there is a section under "Subscriptions" in which you can remove both topics/threads or forum subscriptions. This may suit your usage better?
