Hey Guys,
This is my first post and I desperately need some help. I was running Diskeeper Professional Edition the other day and I opened a small music player program to listen to some music (XMPlay) Not a problem. Then I opened My Computer to check how much space I had on an extra drive. Diskeeper was
defragging C drive at the time. Suddenly, everything kind of locks up,(Diskeeper was at 57% completion) So, my only choice was to turn the power off.
After turning the power back on, everything starts working all wonky when you sign into user names. Then I can't use restart option. Just hangs up. I just ran a Hijack This log so I'm hoping someone can tell me what the heck to do. I really don't want to attempt a reinstall or repair of Windows because I don't know if I will screw something else up. Thanks!

Can you boot into safe mode and run chkdsk/r from a command prompt?

Yes, I can boot into safe mode and have run checkdisk and it found and repaired some errors, but it is still hanging up and freezing up in user accounts.

By user accounts, do you mean logging in or going to your user account settings. I was just wondering if you had the windows xp cd and could run a system file checker test.
Go to RUN type CMD and then type SFC/SCANNOW and put your windows disk in your cd drive. It will search for missing or corrupt files.
