Serial ports

I do not know how to activate my computer's serial port. I can access the BIOS upon restart, but I do not know where the commands for activating the ports are within the menus of the BIOS.

Can someone please help me? My computer is a Compaq Presario 5108US and I am running Windows XP. Thanks!

They are usually under the interfaces subgroup in the bios.
