okay, my computer has been acting funny for a while, but this is the most annoying part. it used to always be quick with the usb ports, but for the last week or 2 every time i plug in anything into the usb ports it says it would perform better on 2.0...it had 2.0. it never said that before...and it is the exact same stuff i used to plug in. my pen drive, psp...etc....please help....this is annoying.

thank you for everything.

do you have an "enhanced host controller" in device manager?

try uninstalling it and rebooting

hopefully you haven't loaded any usb drivers that would conflict with native windows xp ones

No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try.

LOL, OK, I can see that would be annoying.

Can you take a look in Event Viewer and see if there are any errors there that pertain to your USB in any way?

And...did you take a look in Device Manager and see if problems were indicated there?

Of course, the simple way to test whether or not the drivers are the problem...remove them for USB in Device Manager, reboot, and then reinstall the drivers from your motherboard/system drivers disk.
