Problems With Quicktime

I am encountering problems with QuickTime shutting down my browsers every time I try to listen to audio files on the Internet. This has happened with several websites. It happens with both my Firefox and IE browsers. I always get a message saying "Browser has encountered a problem and needs to close".

How do I fix this?
