 I never thought I would join one of these but i've grown desperate. I used to pride myself in doing everything i can and solving, but today i've quit. I quit, whatever I have is the first time i've had something beyond me. I let my uncomputer savy bf and all his friends on here and they're killing me with their 9 hour a day youtubing.

i'm a female, i'm 20, have owned several computers. Am both a mac and pc user, but haven't owned a mac for 6 years. Today I think i'm going to switch my laptop to linux mode. Have never used it before but after today i'm fed up with windows and need to learn it. Plus my university set it's security to that you can only login to their network if you have a full norton subscription, linux, or a mac.

The first thing you need to do is to limit access to your computer. The more people using it, the less control you have over what gets downloaded or what gets changed.
I can understand the University requiring some kind of computer protection for the users on their system, but not insisting on one particular brand unless they automatically install and maintain it.
Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one should be silent.
