I have a Gateway PC which only has USB ports & NO PS2 ports. The PC was working & the USER broke 1 of the USB ports & for some reason none of the others work now & somehow messed up the WIN ME OS installation. I tried putting in a PCI USB card but the KEYBOARD will not work @ all, hence I can't reinstall the OS or do anything since I don't have any control whatsoever.

Could somebody give me a hand on how to proceed??? PLEASE

All of the usb ports are most likely on a singal bus and its probably damaged, not just the one port itself.

Was there some sort of massive electrical surge emitted by a usb connected peripheral?

So I'm guessing the keyboard won't work to get to the BIOS? Which USB-PCI card did you get? Any instructions with it? Stupid question, I assume the mouse doesn't work either?

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

What happened was that they moved the PC & when they went to re-connect all the cables they push in the USB dongle the wrong way & broke the plastic tab inside the USB port & the 4 wires got all tangled up & I think that's when it messed up.

I got a Rosewill RC100 USB 2.0 2 Port PCI card. The mouse is an optical kind & the light goes ON but it won't be available until it boots up. No I can't access the BIOS since I don't have a keyboard to work with.

Well, any suggestions????
