Looking to sup-up my HP Pav a1100y, and under the advice of the most helpful individuals here, I've just upgraded from 1 x 512m to 2 x 1g PNY ddr-5300.
Now, while I'm pleased with the obvious immediate results (photoshp & itunes open 2gether in -3sec - woohoo!) I want more. MORE I say.

Still getting some considerable grinding even though I:
cleaned rgstry
ditched unused progs
selective startup
blah blah blah...anyway, it's clean enough, I think.

What's my next move? Overclocking?

Bus Type Intel GTL+
Bus Width 64-bit
Real Clock 133 MHz (QDR)
Effective Clock 533 MHz
Bandwidth 4267 MB/s

Also, I have another Pavillion that I'm raping in order to supplement my a1100y. Can I steal the processor out of that thing? Think it's a bit faster.

Your MB according to HP Link. Supports a P4 you could ditch the Celeron and get a P4 with on board cache.

Edit: What kind of graphics are you running, and where would you like to see performance increases.. Games? web browsing? Music encoding? movie editing?

I run a grip of progs at a time and get some rumbling. I have another tower that I'm parting out, it has an Intel Pentium 4 2.53 GHz. Can I use it?
