I have a Dell Optiplex 260 that was running 2000. I needed XP for some other applications so I upgraded the unit to XP Pro. Before the upgrade I was connectiong to the internet through a Linksys wireless router. Since the install, I can connect to the other computer on the network, but it will not connect to any web page. I first noticed it when it failed to validate the XP Software. I have exhausted the help desk at my ISP (Wireless Broadband) and Linksys. They say it is the computer. I haven't goten a fast response from Microsoft.

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot.

Hiya,

Correct me if I am wrong, but are you saying that you are running an unvalidated copy of XP pro ?

Regards,

Tony

Soooo...are you saying that you tried once to activate...and it failed?

Or are you saying that your NIC could not connect to the Internet?

In either case, neither is a very good excuse...but 30 days is 30 days .

Did you reestablish your Internet connection by running the Network/Internet Connection Wizard?

Did you install the device driver for the Linksys wireless router after you installed XP?

Topic reopened, as this software is not being run beyond the 30 day grace period.

It tells me I have 18 more days to validate.
