Welcome to BC
Found this that worked for a few people:

"Go to CONTROL PANEL under SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES and the VOLUME tab, I said it was greyed out. Even though I had all drivers installed, it said "NO AUDIO DEVICE" and the DEVICE VOLUME could not be accessed.

Well, the problem was under the AUDIO tab and the SOUND PLAYBACK section. DEFAULT DEVICE was set to "Modem #0 Line Playback".

I clicked on the arrow on the right - for the drop down menu - and saw a second choice..."Vinyl AC'97 Audio (WAVE)".

I chose it, clicked on "APPLY", went back to the VOLUME tab, where it now read "Vinyl AC'97 Audio (WAVE)" and the volume was accessible.

clicked on "OK" - went to youtube.com and it played perfectly.

Problem solved."
