Spyshredder has come on my computer. Can't get rid of it. Downloaded various programmes which will scan and find lots of viruses but they won't clean them up without asking for a fee. Any help on programmes which will remove these for free. Many thanks.

Removal instructions in link below.

Follow up with the two programs below to remove the malware that accompanies the Smitfraud malware.

Install Super Antispyware free. Run it in safe mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.

Run the online scan for Bit Defender in normal mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.

I'm a bit worried - Spy-shredder popped up on my computer (laptop running Windows XP home edition). My son did a System Restore, dating back to a time before Spy-Shredder appeared, and it seems to have gone - at least, it's not on the desktop now, and no sign of it anywhere. The PC is working OK.

In view of the detailed instructions for removing this invader, and the number of websites devoted to it, it's worrying me that it can't be as simple as just doing a System Restore...Is Spy-Shredder likely to still be on the computer somewhere?

Thanks!

Use Super Antispyware to find out.
It has been reported before that a system restore kills the malware. There may still be some files left though. Be sure to run SAS in safe mode. It would be a good idea to use Ccleaner, too.

Install Super Antispyware free. Run it in safe mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.

Remove temporary files, logs, cookies, etc. by using Ccleaner. Do not use "Advanced Settings" or the "Issues" button. Use only the default settings. http://www.ccleaner.com/

While installing Ccleaner you will be offered the Yahoo Toolbar. Be sure to uncheck it unless you want it.
