I am having a heck of a time reinstalling this app. The error I have gotten since uninstalling and reinstalling NET Framework 2.0 is 'CLR 80004005' and the app shuts down, after the error window and I click to accept and close the window. This has been a months long install and reinstall problem. I have looked this error up in a Google search and it seems to be some part of the NET install is in the wrong folder. This is beyond me to understand and am looking for some tech help to fix this problem. Thank you for listening to me relate this here. I need to get this up and running, Capture NX, as I do this for a living and PhotoShop does not work as intuitively for me as Capture NX. I have tried Nikon support but they just give me the Microsoft fixes which have not worked. I ran this down on my own. Thank you very much. I dearly appreciate the expertise on this forum.

Make sure older versions of .net framework are uninstalled. Try running the Windows Installer cleanup utility then redownload

I did that and add/delete. There has to be a better way to do this. I dumped 1.1 and am not sure if I downloaded and installed the best version of 2.0. The one I installed was a Beta version. I am just not sure of what I need to do about the "folder" problem. Do I need to install in a certain folder for the NET Framework? If so, which? Thank you so much for replying.

I had your problem once and had to figure out which one of these to install ,but I can't remember how I found it out., I think I used Belarc Adviser.

280 MB (x86), 610 MB (x64) Mine turned out to be x86

3. Install this tool on your computer.

Step 2: Remove .NET Framework
1. Click Start -> (All) Programs->Windows Installer Clean Up.

2. Please locate any .NET Framework software and remove it.

3. Restart the computer and see if the problem still exists.

After that, please perform the following suggestions to reinstall .NET Framework 2.0 and the update for it.

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB922770)

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB928365)


2. When the File download window appears, please click the Save button, and follow the directions to save it to the Desktop. After downloading the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 setup file and the updates on your Desktop, please double-click the files to manually install them one by one.

After that, please restart your computer and access the Windows update site to test the issue.

Hello digicrow,

I see you have an open HJT log posted in the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum.

You shouldn't make any changes to your system, while your HJT log is posted, as that could change the results of the posted log, making it difficult to properly clean your system.
At this point, the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.
