having some serious problems with my computer. I have some kind of virus or something and I can't find it to get rid of it. it keeps adding executable files with nonsense names on my root drive. It also adds the "~" symbol at the end of a few programs in my startup list making them useless until I renamed them. the avast virus scanner gets a hit every time I boot up. couldn't tell you what it said now. AVG free got virus on a directory I moved from the C: drive to the D: drive and back and also in my Temporary Internet Files folder, again with nonsense names. i had to reformat the C: drive .Right now something seems to be in my system restore files.

Ad-Aware found nothing. Spybot S&D found Win32.Delf.uc

I have attached my hijack this log file. I have also attached the virus vault file from AVG free.

Welcome to the BleepingComputer HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum toader :thumbsup:
My name is Richie and i'll be helping you to fix your problems.

Clear your 'System Restore' points by doing the following:
Right-click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'.
Select 'System Restore'.
Select 'Turn Off System Restore On All Drives'.
Select 'Apply'.
You will then get the following warning:
"You have chosen to turn off System Restore.
If you continue,all existing restore points will be deleted,and you will not be able to track or undo changes to your computer.
Do you want to turn off System Restore?".
Then select 'Yes',your 'System Restore' directories will be purged.

Restart your pc.

Turn 'System Restore' back on:

Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'.
Select 'System Restore'.
Unselect 'Turn Off System Restore On All Drives'.
Select 'Apply',then click 'Ok'.

If you have previously downloaded ComboFix,please delete that version now.
Now download Combofix and save to your desktop:
Note:
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

Close any open browsers.
Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
That may cause the program to freeze/hang.

Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt unless I ask.

Also post a new Hijackthis log please.

*Note*
Post all reports/logs directly into this topic,not as attachments,thanks.

Download SDFix.exe and save it to your desktop:
http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe

* Double click on SDFix on your desktop,and install the fix to C:\

Please then reboot your computer into Safe Mode by doing the following:

* Restart your computer
* After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
* Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
* Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
* Choose your usual account.

* In Safe Mode,go to and open the C:\SDFix folder,then double click on RunThis.bat to start the script.
* Type Y to begin the script.
* It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
* Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
* Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
* When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
* Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt into your next reply.

Please run this online virus scan:Activescan using Internet Explorer.
Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
A new window will open...click the Check Now button
Enter your Country

Select either Home User or Company
Click the big Scan Now button

My computer seems to be stuck at 100% CPU usage and 79% of the physical RAM. Of course this makes it impossible to do anything. I'm typing this in a text editor before copying and pasting it because Firefox is running so slow. I am going to reboot to see if that helps the CPU and RAM usage.

I haven't thanked you yet for helping me with this. You have made all of this very clear and easy to do.

Reboot your computer into SAFE MODE using the F8 method.
To do this,restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly.
A menu will appear with several options.
Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Click on Start>Run,type msconfig then press Ok.
Click on the 'Startup' tab.
Under 'Startup item' uncheck everything,then restart your pc.
If your pc starts normally and your cpu usage is back to normal,start re-checking the boxes you unchecked above one at a time.
Restart your pc after each one until you find the problem program/process.

Thank you again for helping me with this. My computer went back to normal CPU and RAM usage after I rebooted, so it was just whatever was doing it before with all the malware etc. I am recommending this site to all my friends with computer problems, since in my circle of friends I have the most computer knowledge. They automatically think that means I can fix all their computer problems. Just because I know more than the average user, they think I know everything. I don't know much at all really. I didn't know enough to trust my antivirus program when it said the file was a trojan. Oh well. I needed to make a clean install anyway. I'm sure even the newest newbies can get it fixed with your help. thanks again for all your help.
