that extra gig of ram should bring me to 2g

I play mmo's and my FPS (framrate per second) seems to be the reason why i lag so much, thats why im buying these things, the game isnt very fun when you cant move

thanks for any help.

Hey there mate!

Having low funds sucks, but the best way for you to go is to up the amount of RAM in your machine as possible. The card you linked to, EVGA 8600GT is not a bad card, but at the lower end of the newer series 8 GeForce cards, however I have that similar card - XFX 8600GTS XXX version and I can play Colin McRae: Dirt, at a pretty hires, the same for Prey, PainKiller and CoH. I haven't tried it with Bioshock yet!! The card depends on what games your planning on playing.

Hope that helps!

You can install upto 3GB on your computer's motherboard, according to the link you provided. So installing a 1GB of memory won't max your PC out. However if you plan on installing more than 2GB you'll have to look into upgrading your operating system, assuming you're using WinXP Pro 32bt, you'll have to get hold of WinXP Pro 64bit as in the 32bit version the operating system only sees 2GB.
If all else fails, hit the reset button.
