yesterday my computer was infected with Trojan W32 looksky. so I browsed this website and followed as per one link shown below
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/lof...hp/t110714.html

I scanned my computer by using Hijack this and selected ALL to fix it in SAFE mode without networking
then I used Smitfraudfix to remove the virus. Now there is no virus in my computer. But I faced one big problem.

The internet is not working in Normal mode. Internet is working in SAFE mode where now I am writing this message.
my connection is Office LAN and the outlook mail is working nicely.
even the ping of DNS is also working fine.
But it cannot access to any internet websites in NORMAL mode.

The ethernet adapter is alos fine...and I thought that there will be some problem in Internet explorer 7..so I re-installed IE7 in normal mode.
Still then the internet is not working...can somebody suggest me what will be the problem.

It is very strange that the networking and internet is fine at SAFE mode but not working in Normal mode ?
What I will do now.

PLEASE HELP IMMEDIATELY.

thanks and regards
Skdash

Hi skdash,

Sorry for the delay, this forum is overwhelmed right now.

Your log is clean, so I think you did manage to remove looksky (smitfraud) successfully.

Regarding your problem with Internet Explorer, the first thing I would investigate is your Symantec firewall. Try disabling it and see if that allows you to connect to the internet in Normal Mode.

Let me know whether that works. If not, then stay in Normal Mode and run a fresh HJT scan. Save the log to your desktop.

Then Reboot into Safe Mode with Networking, and post the new log to a reply here.

Dave
