 to BC, markusos

You can disable this rather easily, it has nothing to do with computer programming :flowers:

But first, can you please tell us the email client you are using, that is the programs that makes the siren sound when you receive an email.

Oh sorry.

So you have a hotmail. I take it you mean when you are using Msn Messenger?

If you have Live MSN Messenger, open it up and sign in.
Then click the drop down arrow next to your username. Select Options.
On the left hand side bar, select Alerts and Sounds.
Under Sounds, tick New Mail and click OK.

Unfortunately, the default Windows Messenger does not support this function, neither do any other Instant messengers for hotmail such as ebuddy (as far as i can remember).

Hope this info helps you out

I don't think that option is available, as when using normal email it stays on the page you are on until you refresh the page or click onto another page.

You could always sing into MSN Live messenger appearing offline though

No problems.

I suggest appearing offline or being away though, or you could receive an influx of messages that will remain unanswered seeing as you work around your house

Have a great day

actually, i just want to know when i receive messages from people who are in my
address book

i don't really chat, not at all,

nothing wrong with chatting, it just isn't my cup of tea,

in fact, i could block all chatters, right!, and just allow messages from those in my address book

would i get the sound alarm when these people email me,

btw, i'm still working on your setup suggestions

No problems.

An alternative to blocking everyone (just in case you ever do want to talk to them) is to appear offline. This means that you basically are not online to everyone else, however you can see who is online and even talk to people if you want (though they will no that you are appearing offline)

To do this, just click the drop down arrow next to your status and select appear offline.

Glad i could help

if mailwasher will work with hotmail you can program it to make a variety of sounds as noisy as you wish

I am not hotmail but mine can make a VERY loud noice with my speakers turned up full
