I've heard great things about AVG's products so I decided to install the trial version of their anit-spyware. It worked pretty well but now the trial period was over. I can't uninstall the software. It's still running in the background of my system and I want it out.

As I don't have a license #, I'm stuck with the sales support contacts. They keep sending me the same stupid, canned solutions. There is no "uninstall" option from the start>programs>AVG menu. The "remove" button on the control panel doesn't work. (Their canned solutions.)

I've tried ending the guest.exe and avgas.exe processes and then running "remove" from the control panel. This doesn't work either.

I'm so disgusted with the entire process, I've flushed my intention to buy the software after the current version of my internet security system (trend-micro) expires.

Any suggestions on how to get this software off my laptop??

With my appreciation for any intelligent advice you have to offer,

Try uninstalling it in "Safe Mode Instructions".

Did you know that after the 30 day trial, active protection extensions will be deactivated and the program will turn into a feature-limited freeware version that you can can continue to use as an on-demand scanner for free.

Ahhhh, yes, safe mode. Thank you!! I will try that right away.

The scanner option might be helpful but I have enough trouble with process traffic. I don't need to have the software running for the rare possibility that I might want to run the scan, without updates.

I'll go back to adaware for that.

Thanks again for the safe mode idea.
