I want you to fix some of those entries. Please do the following:

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then click the Fix button
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
O8 - Extra context menu item: Coupons - file://C:\Program Files\couponsandoffers\System\Temp\couponsandoffers_script0.htm

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode and delete the following files:

Then delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)
C:\Program Files\couponsandoffers

Disable System Restore. You can find instructions on how to enable and reenable system restore here:

Managing Windows Millenium System Restore
or

Windows XP System Restore Guide

Renable system restore with instructions from tutorial above

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode and post a new log.

These last two are optional and are considered by some to be spyware:

Looks clean. Great job!

Now that you are clean, please follow this simple step and use the following programs:

Visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure that you have the latest patches for your operating system installed. If there are new updates to install, install all the critical updates, reboot and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

I would strongly advise you download and install SpywareBlaster and Spybot (With TeaTimer)

Tutorials and download locations for each programs can be found below. They will help to prevent a lot of future reinfections.

Using SpywareBlaster to protect your web browser

Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware from Your Computer

Glad i was able to help.

I would need the exact error message to tell you what it means, but when you run windows updates are you logged as an administrator of the computer?

Heres the exact error msg:

"The software you are installing has not passed the Windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP.

This software will not be installed. Contact your system administrator."

and whats even wierder is the fact that the update files are downloaded to a windows update temp directory. And if I go to install them directly from the install files this is the msg i get:

Setup Error:
Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running on this computer.

Click on Start > Run and type services.msc and press enter.

A list of Windows Services should now appear on your screen, scroll down the list until you find Cryptographic Services. Right click this and select properties. Now ensure that the startup type is set to automatic and click the start button in that window if the service status is stopped.

In your next post let me know if it was started already.

Its a cacheing client. It retains information about previous dns queries and supposedly gives them back to you quicker if you check in the future. DNS though is usually very fast so the supposed speed does not outweight the resources used.
