Ad-Aware 2007 was installed on my home pc yesterday and Spybot was already on there. Spybot was not removed first. Now my cable modem looks like it's connected and according to my cable company, it is, but internet access does not happen. Also my wireless internet access isn't working. Did all the shutdown, unpluging of router and modem to no avail. Anyone have any ideas??
Thanks

It should not matter that you had Spybot on your computer already seeing as most people (including myself) use both at the same time. I would try using the older version of Adaware Se instead of 2007 just because when I used it there were multiple bugs. Did you try playing with the router's settings?

No, I haven't tried the router settings yet. I will try doing an uninstall of the Ad Aware then doing a system restore and see if that helps.
Thanks

SUPERAntiSpyware Free is an excellent alternative to Ad-aware.
Free vs Pro Comparison Features. If your using the free version, use it as an on-demand scanner...no need to run at startup.

BTW, Spybot has been updated in case you did not get the word. See Changes & Improvements in v1.5.

Thanks. I prefer Spybot, so I will get rid of the Ad Aware and see what happens! Thanks for all of your help

I uninstalled Ad-Aware and guess what?? I got my internet connections back! I did a couple of system restores, but it said that there were no changes made. So I did the uninstall, reset my modem and router and voila! Internet and wireless has returned! I'm going to update my Spybot to the newest version. By the way, we use Spybot at work on our standard desktop configurations and we will be testing the new Spybot now too! No need to uninstall the older version of Spybot.
Great Day!! Thanks!!

Glad to hear the problem is resolved. I find it odd that the issue had anything to do with Ad-aware being installed. I'll have to check around in see if there are any similar reports.
