A friend of mine has given me her old laptop that was so infected she got a new one. When I turn it on, it urges to go into Safe Mode (which it DOES allow me to do), but I can't start it up normally. Other than that, I don't know where else to start. HELP!

Also, I can't do a HiJack this log because I can't get online until I can start it up normally, obviously.

Do you know what type of infection was on the system?

What OS (Win XP/2000, etc) are you using? What type of anti-virus and any anti-spyware programs are installed? If you have them installed, have you tried doing your scans in "SAFE MODE"?
