I am having a hard time sharing my printer with two other pc's that I have. I am running windows XP connected using DSL with a switch. I enabled sharing on the printer, but when I try to add a printer using the Add Printer wizard, it does not show the printer. I browse for it and type in the printername and it gives me an error message. Am I missing a step somewhere?

Are you running a firewall? Try to disable it temporarily and see if it helps.

Also are you using the" \\computer name\printer name" in your search for the printer?

I have disabled my firewall, tried putting the path (printer name/printer) still does not see printer. Being that I am trying to connect a printer that is connected to another pc- would I need a print server?

You don't need a server. Did you disable the firewall on both computers?
See if this link will help you, it even shows how to configure ZoneAlarm firewall so you don't have to disable it to work together.
Maybe you will find the missing step:

I disabled the firewall on both computers. One thing I failed to mention is that I am using a 2wire modem that has a built in firewall. DO you think it might have something to do with that?

Hopefully this link will work. It doesn't seem like the hardware firewall should be causing the problem. Let me know if this link doesn't work. This is the check list for your modem/router to set up a printer. Do you have the drivers set up on both printers? For now I would still disable your firewall while trying to network the printer. Then enable it after.

Okay I was able to get it to work. First, I disabled my firewall and then I went into my ewire settings and I had to allow print/file sharing on firewall settings on the computer on which the printer was attached to. NOW I am able to print- thanks so much Crizz44
