I'd like to start by saying how much I appreciate people like you who are there to help out those who need it with their computer problems. I ran into this problem and found this forum because of it. There was a previous post with this same topic title, originally posted by "archiebrown" on June 21st 2007, "RichieUK" was the original person to help with this problem. I read through the entire Topic and tried to follow the instructions but there were some specifics that didn't apply to me. I know some about computers and such but I've never had to deal with a problem like this.

Using SpywareBot i was able to stop the pop-ups that tried to sell me virus protection and the red background is now gone. But, my computer still seems rather slow and my background on my main monitor (have dual-monitors) is blank. You can still see all programs and desktop icons but the actual background is gone. It does show up on my secondary monitor though.

Any help anyone can give would be most appreciated. Thanks again.

Use the two programs below. Using someone else's customized instructions can cause problems. You should be able to reset your background.
