Fax Noise On Bt Phone Line

I have a Dell E521 windows XP AOL B/Band with BT voyager 105 adsl modem - when I get an incoming phonecall on BT we hear what sounds like fax noise for 10 - 20 seconds whether PC is on or off

ADSL lines use a filter to seperate the data from the voice. Sounds like you either don't have one installed, or the one you have is defective. This is a problem the phone company will need to fix.
