http://www.bitdefender.com/site/Downloads/

Is the one on the far right the correct one?

It's 21 MB.

Want to use it if you download a file to the desktop and then scan it BEFORE opening it.

Thought I had the correct copy but it now says that it is expired.

I think(dangerous enough)....I got it.

The above-mentioned link and selection are correct. It is BitDefender v10 and it is an active virus protection. But......

After I downloaded it, I selected, from under "general" and then "settings", for it NOT to load at start-up. Then unchecked bdmcon.exe from Msconfig.

Now, after a boot, in Task Manager under Processes, bdss.exe is there and using zero CPU, 300k of memory and 508 I/O reads(which I have no idea what THAT means).

bdncon.exe appears in Processes when the icon is double clicked and bdlite.exe opens when a right-click scan of a file is performed.

So the right-click individual scan of a file is working..........BUT, is its active virus protection component working?????
