I found bleepingcomputer by searching about Antispy Storm. I have tried (not all worked) the steps recommended and have had little success in removing the malware. I read a thread that used combofix and eventually the files needed to be removed manually. I am about to give up and re-format my hard drive and re-install everything...is that a better way to go?

I ran combofix and I think it removed my problem (s).
