How Do I Stop Yahoo Messenger & Others To Auto-run

hi! how do i stop yahoo messenger & others with the same feature to auto-run? i want it to stop coz it slows down the computer at start-up, but i don't want to completely remove it or uninstall it

gneb, at the top of the yahoo messenger click on messages, scroll down to preferences and then click that. You will find the option there to turn off automatic startup, just uncheck the box.
