Disk Drive Wont Read Discs

hi.im having some problems with my disk drive (D).it wont read cds or dvds most of the time but sometimes it does after a long delay.is this probably due to a problem with the hardware?

Try a disk cleaning "disk" from a electronics store or walmart.
It could be a bad drive. Sometimes a simple cleaning will do.
