I had this warning: Your computer is in Danger! Windows Security Center has detected spyware/adware infection! it is strongly recommended to use special antispyware tools to prevent damage" on a black and red screen on my computer. I purchased & downloaded spywarebot to remove the infection. The red x that was appearing in the right corner of my computer is now gone...but the error message on the desktop remains, and when I go into the control panel, appearances, then desktop...it won't let me do anything to it. Can anyone help me with this? It would be greatly apprectiated. The download I purchased promised to clean everything in 5 minutes. I've been at this for over 18hrs now.

Use the Smitfraudfix tool. Scan with Option #1. If it finds the malware, use option #2 to remove it.

Follow up with the programs below to remove malware that accompanies Smitfraud infections.
Install Super Antispyware. Run it in safe mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.

Run the online scan for Bit Defender in normal mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.
