It's listed as an autoexec.nt and it is found in the start up folder. None of the scans 've used have detected a trojan. Is this a known problem?

Filename: mscdexnt.exe
Directory: C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\

The legit file is 1KB and on XP systems should be dated 8/04/04.

Could be a "False Positive".

Anytime you come across a suspicious file or one you cannot find any information on, submit the file to jotti's virusscan or virustotal.com. In the "File to upload & scan" box, browse to the location of the suspicious file and submit (upload) it for scanning/analysis.

thanks for looking into the matter.

I was not able to scan any files though with the web sites you suggested. I received an error message indicating that either a firewall or malware was preventing me from doing so.

I've previously downloaded Registry Wise in an attempt to rid myself of previous uneeded or harmful registry keyy. It keeps coming up with the following:

I appologize for the lenth of this submission but am concerned. I wonder if som Maware is in fact keeping me from removing ny traces of a previous infection. If so Do you have any suggestions.

I do have Adaware and Spybot and must admitt that they seem inefective at finding anything despite the updates which further leeds me to believe something is wrong.

thank you for your help.
