I am running a laptop with xp home.

in my computer under the localdisk c: the text for the link is blue. if i right click it the open and explore are random characters and do not lead to anywhere.

Perhaps t was a corrupted file due to a virus as I have just cleared a lot of them off along with spyware.

Any advice woud be great

Hi . Generally, a blue Explorer folder means that the contents of the folder has been compressed.

Is your "link" a file or a folder ?

To clarify, is it the root (C:\) that's in blue - or is it the first folder underneath it? Often that first folder underneath the C:\ is a folder that's used to store Windows information.

Looks like the C:\ drive is compressed - and that, along with the strange right click characters suggests an unwanted intrusion into your system by someone. Have you installed anything recently that might have caused this? If not, try these free, online scans to check for issues:
