The topic title pretty much sums it up- I've re-installed XP and no i have no sound.
I have done a search on this and have come across several other reports of the same problem and the solution seems to be to use a program to find out your motherboard and then downloaded the necessary drivers. The problem is that the programs i've tried have not named my motherboard so im kinda stuck.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what i can do??

Cheers

Was SIW one of the suggested programs? It will do as asked.

I have tried installing codecs but these did nothing and im really stumped.

Silly things off the top of my head - - Try the speakers of another computer or vice-versa. Try headphones to make sure you have sound. Besides the sound icon in the system tray, open the volume control window and make sure mute is unchecked. Also double check they're plugged into the proper jack

I've fixed the issue now- I used windows update to download an updated driver and that seemed to do the trick
(Windows troubleshoot ACTUALLY helped me...it was almost scary)

Thanks to everyone who replied though.
