I'm a Windows XP Pro user, and recently encountered a problem with a Torjan which I cannot remove. I have used several Spyware programs, and my Antivirus Software (Norton 2005) finds and removes the sp.dll file frequently, but the file just respawns. I have a copy of my HiJackThis log below, and I would be very grateful if you could help me. My homepage is constantly returning to about.blank with a "Search For..." heading, and I encounter trouble navigating in most websites, I also receive numerous popups (Relating to Spyware removal... makes me wonder who CREATES these viruses!)

Please download CWShredder but don't run it yet.
http://cwshredder.net/bin/CWSInstall.exe

Download Ad-aware SE from: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html

Install the program and launch it. First, in the main window, look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files. Exit Adaware for now.

Download and run this tool.
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FxAgentB.exe

Make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then close all other windows--you should only see HijackThis on your Desktop--and click the Fix Checked button.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Now run CWShredder, making sure to click "Fix".

Then delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\0f2ej.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ay4da2z.exe
c:\ied_s7.cab
c:\x.cab
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ocap.dll

Run a full scan with Adaware.

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode.

Please run these two online scans.
Make sure they are set to clean automatically:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/co...n_principal.htm

If there are files that can not be removed by the scans please include that information in your next post.

Reboot once more and post a new hijackthis log.

Thank you very much Buckeye, you're a damn genius! Worked like a charm! And I have to confess I wasn't very hopefully, as many stages found nothing, and none of the files mentioned existed when I restarted in safe mode, and prior to that no scan found any virus either!

All is working great now, and I am in your debt, thanks again! :-)
