I'm trying to locate the Firefox cache folder on Vista. The folder naming structure for it differs from what it is on XP.

Here is the path of the folder I'm talking about:

C:\Documents and Settings\Bill\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\rlzudt8g.default\Cache

I believe the folder one down under Profiles ("rlzudt8g.default") may have a different name from machine to machine (a diff combination of letters/numbers), but I can't find any part of this path in Vista.

Any help appreciated.

C:\Documents and Settings\Bill\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\rlzudt8g.default\Cache

....\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ in Windows Vista.

To view the cache contents, type "about:cache?device=disk" (without quotes) in the Firefox address bar and press Enter - all the cached entries will be shown as links, with further details when you click on each link.

No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try.

OK I'm back on my home XP laptop and I can tell you that your first suggestion is possibly a dead end. Basically, if you go into this folder:

you can find the xxxxxx.default directory in there, but there is no Cache folder inside it, as there is in XP. It is possible that Cache does exist in that directory as a hidden folder, but I can't figure out how to turn on hidden folders in Vista. It's lovely the way MS has completely changed the UI so that people familiar with the old UI ways in existence since Windows 95 will be helpless in the new version.

I'll try your 2nd suggestion, "about:cache?device=disk", as soon as I'm at that computer again.

Firefox cache in Vista is here:

To get here, you MUST do this:
right-click the Start/Windows icon (bottom-left) on desktop.
left-click "Explore".
this will open "Windows Explorer".

If you go to Windows Explorer any other way, it will NOT be listed.
