Hi, I need help. I'm not very computer savy and I have had problems for over 2 months, beginning when I had dialup. I ran ad aware and my computer would shut down when it ran. I now have dsl and am running verizon internet security suite (is this any good? years ago I had norton internet security 2004 and now I can't remove it completely--any ideas? as it conflicts with verizon internet security) But back to my main problem--I ran spybot s&d and it removed alot but not these last two--it would just freeze up. My computer is so slow and so many windows keep popping up Usually internet explorer windows when I am using mozilla. So help me please. Here is a copy of my hijackthis log

Hi,

I see you are running Teatimer.
I suggest you to disable it because it can interfere with the changes you'll make on your system.
When everything is done and your log is clean again, you can enable it again.
If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.
How to disable TeaTimer during HijackThis Cleanup
Then, Download ResetTeaTimer.bat.
Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer.

Then, * Download Combofix to your desktop.
In case you already used Combofix previously, please delete the version you are having and redownload it again, because Combofix is being updated everyday.
Doubleclick combofix.exe
Follow the prompts.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished and after reboot (in case it asks to reboot), combofix will open again to gather the necessary information for the log. This may take a bit. When done, Combofix will close and a log should open, combofix.txt.
Post the contents of this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.
Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt - unless I ask you to.

Hi,

Don't worry about the ResetTeatimer.bat for now. As long as your Teatimer is disabled and stays disabled, you should be ok.

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Please set your system to show all files.
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Please hide your hidden files and folders afterwards again, when we are done with this thread and your problems are solved, because above instructions to set your system to show all files, unhide legit files and folders as well.
And I don't want you to delete them because they may look suspicious. To hide them again, just perform the above instructions in the opposite way.

Navigate to and delete next files and folders:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\jlkkj.ini2 <== file
C:\Program Files\550AccessDialer.exe <== file, in case you didn't install this
C:\Qoobox <== folder

Open notepad and copy and paste next present in the quotebox below in it:
(don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4)

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa]
"Authentication Packages"=hex(7):6d,73,76,31,5f,30,00,00

Save this as fix.reg Choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
It should look like this: Posted Image
Doubleclick on it and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click yes/ok.
(In case you are unsure how to create a reg file, take a look here with screenshots.)

By the way, I overlooked this part:

years ago I had norton internet security 2004 and now I can't remove it completely--any ideas?

To fully remove Norton AntiVirus, you should go here and download the files and print the instructions for removal, and follow them after uninstalling NAV:
How to uninstall Norton AntiVirus 2003/2004/2005/2006/2007 (note: this removes ALL Norton 2003/2004/2005/2006/2007 products from your computer)
How to uninstall Norton AntiVirus 2000/2001/2002

Also read this article in case you're having problems with uninstalling Norton if above instructions didn't work, or noticed problems after uninstalling Norton:
http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem.htm

Edited/updated above links since one of them was outdated.

This looks OK again.

Not sure if you already ran the Norton removal tool since Norton related processes/files are still up and running.

Let me know in your next reply how things are now.

I uninstalled Norton now and I think it worked. I also took some time and surfed the web and no Popups! Yeah I think it is fixed. Thank you ever so much. I can now use my internet! Oh by the way do you have any opinions on how safe/good verizon internet security suite is? Also is there anything else I can delete on my computer that I don't need? There seems to be so much stuff running in the background. Also any suggestions on good programs to install that helps keep everything running smoothly, safely, and/or quickly?

Oh by the way do you have any opinions on how safe/good verizon internet security suite is

I have never tried it, so it's difficult to tell how good it is. But from what I've heard, it's not a great security suite. Look in my links below under Antivirus for the ones I recommend. In case you decide to install another one, uninstall your Verizon first.

Also is there anything else I can delete on my computer that I don't need? There seems to be so much stuff running in the background

I don't really see anything you don't need though. Most processes are the ones related with Verizon. And Security software should be running in the background.

Also any suggestions on good programs to install that helps keep everything running smoothly, safely, and/or quickly?

Yes,

Please read my Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.
And if you want to improve speed/system performance after malware removal, take a look here.

No need for the resetteatimer.bat... It has been pulled anyway since spybot S&D updated their software.
When you enable teatimer and when it displays alerts right after you enabled it, please do NOT let it block the changes, but accept/allow them. This because we deleted some values in the registry manually and when you enable Teatimer again, it will see that modification and think it was modified by malware, so it will block these modifications again and sets the entries as how they were before - this means, it will just restore the previous malware related registry entries.

Yes, your problem should be solved now
